What is upCAT?
UPCAT THE PRE-ACCELERATOR PROGRAMME FROM ENTECHNON
The upCAT 2.0 Pre-Accelerator Program is a new format of the Accelerator Program, where students meet startups and work together. upCAT is a joint offer from EnTechnon, the Chair of Entrepreneurship and Technology Management, and the KIT Startup Incubator. In the new format of this program, which will start in 2023, a completely new approach will be implemented.
All KIT students who are in the Bachelor’s program may participate. Within the framework of the “Student2Startup” seminar of the EnTchnon, they then work together with startups during one semester.
At the end of the semester, there is the Demo Day: pitching in front of seminar participants, startups, and the local startup community.
THE PROGRAMME
WHAT CAN YOU EXPECT AT UPCAT?
In the form of a pre-accelerator program, startups and research teams work on their ideas to define the key strategic challenges they face. As part of a new “Student2Startup” seminar offered by EnTechnon, bachelor students will then work in teams to find solutions to these challenges, with the support of mentors from industry.
In this way, students can gain hands-on experience working on real business ideas, while teams and early-stage startups are supported in finding solutions to their challenges.
In addition, both student teams and startups are supported by experienced mentors from industry and academia.
THE NEXT ROUND
UPCAT – ISSUE NO. 13
Issue No. 12. took place during the summer semester and will conclude with Demo Day on July 24 at TRIANGEL.
Issue No. 13 will start next winter. Details on the exact schedule will follow shortly.

Unsere Erfahrung mit upCAT:
upCAT war eine sehr inspirierende Veranstaltung für unser Team von Inventife. Verschiedene Referenten haben uns in mehreren Sessions viel über Geschäftsplanung, Marktanalyse und Pitching beigebracht. Während dieser “Lektionen” und in Einzelgesprächen erhielt jedes Start-up Antworten auf sehr spezifische Fragen, was bei größeren Veranstaltungen nicht möglich ist. Mit dem Netzwerk von Mentoren und Industriekontakten hinter upCAT sind wir nun erfolgreich in unserer frühen Start-up-Phase.
