Overview

The startup ecosystem is not confined to just one city but thrives across Germany. This wonderful realization is something we can definitely take away from the Bits24. Numerous participants from the Startup Factory competition traveled to Munich and frequently used the exist booth (right across from the famous beer carousel) as a meeting point.

The mutual exchange over two days was beneficial for everyone. Despite the competition, there was a strong sense of community and mutual support for the shared goal of becoming successful. Everyone here shares the same mission: to further promote, optimize, and expand startup support. And, of course, to belong to the major startup beacons in Germany. The political sector committed to this goal multiple times at Bits24, with Robert Habeck particularly emphasizing the importance of startup factories for Germany.

Our NXTGN network was also well represented at Bits24, proudly showing off the first NXTGN T-shirts for a strong visual presence. Additionally, the days in Munich provided great opportunities for team-building and fun within the shared project. That’s why we, as KIT Gründerschmiede and part of the NXTGN network, are excited to attend the Slush on October 24 in Heilbronn and look forward to seeing everyone again soon.

Many KIT alumni also gathered at Bits, which was fantastic because one of our missions was to spark interest in our KIT alumni event, the Karlsruhe Innovators Homecoming 2025. The spark has definitely been ignited, and we’re thrilled with all the positive feedback and interest. The second edition of the alumni event will take place in Karlsruhe on January 30, 2025, where KIT alumni involved in startups, entrepreneurship, and investor networks will come together.

Our colleague Eric had many investor meetings in Munich, where he continues to expand the investor network for KIT spin-offs. All in all, our visit to Bits & Pretzels was more than worth it.

As a final note, here are some impressions from Munich for you.
